Skype is a great tool that is free and allows for free video calls, or just plain calling over the internet for free. All of this in addition to Instant Messaging. The quality of voice is as good as any phone call. The video is better than Yahoo, AIM or MSN video by a long range. I am planning on using this to talk to Christine and family as much as possible as it is free and so clear to talk on. All you need is a headset for your computer and a good webcam (Logitech works well it, and I know VEO cams have a problem). If you sign up, send me your Skype ID and I will be looking for you online when I connect. www.skype.com

Opening of the Afghanistan Blog
This Blog will be used to document my experiences while deployed on a 16 month tour as a member of a Embedded Training Team (ETT) for the Afghanistan National Army (ANA). This tour will be split up with 4 months in Miss. conducting tactical, instructor and language training, and then 12 months Boots on the Ground (BOG) in A-Stan. I will not use full names of fellow Americans or Afghanis, I will not divulge tactically sensitive issues or locations, and I will in no way violate Operational Security (OPSEC). I will however do my best to give any reader of this a window into my world while I am on this exciting mission. Enjoy your reading.
